About the Position
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct genomic diversity, pathogenicity, virulence, and adaptation studies on Brazilian Salmonella enterica strains, applying a One Health perspective. Key activities include comparative and pangenomic analyses, characterization of mobile genetic elements, gene expression studies using RNA-seq, multi-omic data integration, and in silico identification of potential therapeutic targets.
Eligibility
- PhD obtained less than 7 years ago, or PhD defense scheduled before the fellowship start date
- Background and experience in microbiology, molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, or related fields
- Experience in genomic data analysis and computational tools for biological research
- Ability to plan, execute, and interpret scientific studies
- Proficiency in English for scientific reading, interpretation, and writing
- Availability for exclusive dedication, as per FAPESP regulations
- Desirable: Experience in bacterial comparative and pangenomics
- Desirable: Knowledge in genome assembly, annotation, and analysis
- Desirable: Experience in phylogenomic analyses and bioinformatics tools
- Desirable: Experience in transcriptomics and RNA-seq data analysis
- Desirable: Knowledge in scientific programming and Linux environments
