This direct PhD scholarship, funded by FAPESP, offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated student to join a research project focused on the enzymatic degradation of exopolysaccharides from microbial biofilms. The project will employ structural biophysics, molecular biotechnology, and synthetic biochemistry approaches to study CAZymes, aiming to discover new enzymatic tools for antimicrobial treatments.
The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive scholarship for 48 months, along with an additional research allowance to cover project-related expenses. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in molecular biology and recombinant enzyme production, looking to contribute to cutting-edge research in biotechnology.

About the Position
The research project aims to conduct biochemical and structural studies of Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes (CAZymes) and oxidative enzymes (AA families) that show potential in degrading exopolysaccharides (EPS) found in microbial biofilms. The degradation of these EPS can significantly enhance the sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics and other antimicrobial treatments, offering a promising avenue for developing new therapeutic strategies.
