The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) is offering a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Neurotechnology at the Institut des Neurosciences Paris-Saclay. This role involves innovative research into brain-machine interfaces, focusing on how cortical circuits integrate somatosensory information for motor learning.
The successful candidate will join the dynamic Touch&Move laboratory, contributing to preclinical research in functional rehabilitation. The position is full-time, requiring 35 hours per week, and offers a unique opportunity to work within one of Europe's leading research universities.

About the Position
The core of this research program is to combine mesoscopic decoding with optogenetic somatosensory feedback using an all-optical, bidirectional strategy. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for evaluating various experimental approaches in mice to deliver proprioceptive and/or tactile feedback via optogenetic methods during sensorimotor tasks. This will involve significant engineering work for experimental design and data analysis, alongside animal experimentation. The project aims to develop strategies for artificially transmitting sensory information from prostheses to the cortex, facilitating motor command adjustments within brain-machine interface contexts.
Eligibility
- PhD or equivalent in Neurosciences or Biological Sciences.
- 1-4 years of research experience in Neurosciences or Biological Sciences.
- Experience in animal experimentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international team.
- Strong background in neuroscience (functional imaging, optogenetics, operant conditioning) and/or engineering (programming, robotics, optics). Ideally, expertise in both fields is preferred.
- Basic French language skills.
Benefits
- Opportunity to work in a leading research university environment.
- Access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment and animal facilities.
- Contribution to significant preclinical research in functional rehabilitation.
